PROTECTING, PRESERVING, RESTORING
Putting nature on a path to recovery.
Consisting of deep ocean covered by drifting pack ice and surrounded by continents and archipelagos around the Earth's North Pole, the Arctic is the planet's largest and least fragmented inhabited region.
At the same time, the Arctic is at the hard edge of many of the biggest challenges facing the world today. Global warming, melting sea ice and ocean pollution all have direct implications for Arctic biodiversity as well as for communities that rely on nature’s services for everything from cultural identities to livelihoods.
Nowhere on Earth are the immediate effects of climate change felt so intensely. The climate crisis is
heavily influencing migration timings for Arctic wildlife. New economic opportunities are coming to the Arctic as oil and gas, shipping, and tourism, while melting permafrost and changes to the patterns of game animals are changing the face of life in the north.
Now more than ever we realise that what happens in the Arctic doesn’t stay in the Arctic. The Arctic is warming faster than any other region on earth, becoming a wetter, less predictable place.
Unless countries urgently step up their ambition to limit warming to 1.5°C and decarbonise by 2050, the world will continue to feel the effects of a warming Arctic: rising sea levels, changes in climate and
precipitation patterns, increasing severe weather events, and threats to globally important fish stocks, marine mammals and bird populations.
In order to actively help in these efforts, I support the WWF Arctic Program. And with your purchase in my store, you do too! I donate at least 5% of all sales directly to the WWF Arctic Program every year, regardless of my profitability. Help us to protect, preserve and restore the Arctic to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature. This is our chance to get it right from the beginning with a precautionary approach to conservation in a cooperative and sustainably-minded region.
