Moulting Juvenile Southern Elephant Seal

Moulting Juvenile Southern Elephant Seal

Regular price €55,00

High-quality limited edition fine art print of a moulting juvenile Southern Elephant Seal dozing at the beach of Gold Harbour. Every year during January and February Southern Elephant Seals go ashore and fast during the moulting season, which lasts three to five weeks. During this time, they try to protect their sensitive skin from burning and drying out with sand.

The picture was taken by Henry Páll Wulff on March 8, 2020, at Gold Harbour, South Georgia, and is printed on museum-grade Giclée Hahnemühle Photo Rag® paper coated with a characteristic, wonderfully soft feel that boasts a lightly defined felt structure, lending the print a three-dimensional appearance and impressive pictorial depth.
